The Wheeler Garage Company Limited was founded in May 1964 by my Father, Duncan Wheeler. Duncan's family had been selling bicycles and cars in Newbury, Berkshire, since 1902, originally in the Broadway (near the Clock Tower) before moving to larger premises in the London Road, a site they occupied for over thirty years. Duncan's first premises were in the small market town of Wantage just north of Newbury, a safe distance from the other business interests of his family.

In 1979 the Company purchased Black and White Garage, a move that brought Duncan back to his home-town of Newbury. Black and White Garage immediately became dealers of new and previously owned Alfa Romeo cars and in 1985 we adopted the Fiat franchise alongside Alfa Romeo. Sixteen very successful years followed but in 1995 we decided to become independent Alfa Romeo specialists, with the garage soon becoming one of the largest modern Alfa Romeo specialists in the UK.

In June 2001, I returned from living in San Diego, California, and took over the running of Black and White Garage, in doing so becoming the fourth generation of the Wheeler Family to be involved in Newbury's Retail Motor Industry. Soon my passion for vintage and classic Alfa Romeos got the better of me and I altered the direction of the business to cater for these wonderful vehicles.  

Although I focused on the purchase and sale of classic Alfa Romeo vehicles, I also dealt in other rare and interesting car marques such as FIAT, Lancia, and Maserati, and motorcycle marques such as MV Agusta, Maserati, Ferrari, Itom, and Mondial.  Over the years I became very well known in the international Alfa Romeo world for my eclectic taste in rare and unusual models, especially the commercial and military ones, working on the basis of the more unusual the better.

My family and I own the garage site and in 2015 I decided to close Black and White Garage rent the site to someone else. I was extremely grateful to all of my past clients throughout the world for their much valued business and very enjoyable experiences.   In September 2015 I joined a highly regarded classic car and motorcycle auction company, and after two enjoyable and interesting years there I was asked to join a large classic car dealing and restoration company based in Mayfair and Essex, following which I was delighted and honoured to join one of the worlds leading Maserati specialists based in Hertfordshire.
